According to the Inland Revenue Eric Davidson is one of the most sought after speakers in the country.

Eric was raised in that Cultural Cul-de-Sac, the Crem de-la-Skimmed Milk of all Midlothian mining villages, Newtongrange. He now lives with his wife Jackie and two young daughters in the Midlothian village of Pathhead.

In April 2007 he was victorious at the St Columbas' Hospice charity Wit of Wits Dinner again held at the Prestonfield House Hotel.

In May 2005 he was the principal speaker at the Scottish Football Writers' Dinner . In March 2006, along with Sam Torrance, he was the guest speaker at the SPGA Lunch. Last December he entertained the guests at Tommy Burns' Testimonial Dinner.
